Constantly learning, exploring, and new seeking challenges, AJ’s planning and design philosophy reflects a 30-year professional evolution. He has come to realize the creation of place – whether a regional nature preserve or a downtown urban plaza – is grounded in an understanding of the area’s natural bounties and their limits, as well as its people and traditions. But it is the artistic inspirations or gestures drawn from these insights that make places vibrant, memorable and lasting, and it is the role of a skilled landscape architect or community planner to help communities see and celebrate those inspirations. These are the challenges to which AJ is drawn.
AJ works on a diverse range of projects, from park and trail design to neighborhood development, public policies and regulations, along with cutting edge technology development.
