Settler’s Cabin County Park, named for a preserved 1780’s log cabin on the site, is a 600-acre regional park owned by Allegheny County. Settler's Cabin, located along a major route to the Pittsburgh International Airport, consists of numerous picnic groves/pavilions, playgrounds, ballfields, tennis courts, wave pool, diving center and hiking/biking trails. EPD worked with Allegheny County to prepare a Master Site Plan for Settler's Cabin County Park and subsequently created construction documents and provided construction administration services. EPD developed and designed program elements for the Settler's Cabin, including the ballfields, open lawns for passive recreation, picnic pavilions, play structures and support facilities such as parking areas and restrooms. The picnic groves and hiking/biking trails are some of the most popular in the Allegheny County Park system.

Later construction phases included the development of a public wave and diving pool as well as a tennis complex. Settler’s Cabin is constructed and in full operation. It is the most popular wave pool in Allegheny County, and a regional attraction to the residents of nearby communities located in Ohio and West Virginia. EPD was responsible for grading, drainage, landscaping, lighting and construction detailing.
